Kathleen Kolba

Born in Dauphin, Manitoba in 1958 Kathleen paints full time in her Winnipeg Studio.

'My compositions translate a collection of memory impressions and random bits of information I archive throughout my day. They are an exploration into my psyche and their relevance to universal concepts and unseen forces. I paint intuitively. I rarely start a painting with the completed work in mind. It is more like a feeling or an urge, something waiting to be brought forth. The brush leads me to a place where I recognize the message. At this point I become engaged on a more intellectual level. Some paintings take just hours and others take months.

Many are never finished and in my mind I am always painting, absorbing, dissecting, gathering and composing. Even in my dreams I paint'

Primarily self taught Kathleen studied art at Emily Carr College in Vancouver, BC.

Music and theatre and Malaspina College in Nanaimo, BC and Interior Decorating at Red River College in Winnipeg, Mb.

'I love to explore and experiment. I push the boundaries and challenge my mediums.'
